Why surFAIR ?
Why SURFAIR ?
Our surftrips usually take us to tropical places which are mainly developing countries. We travel thousands of kilometers by plane to get to this tropical places while people in the backcounty of those spots struggle to survive. We come for a holiday or a surftrip, using the waves and their natural ressources. We go back home stoked with a smile on our face without giving the locals a possbility to have a share of our wealth. SURFAIR is a little project that tries to give semething back to the locals of those remote spots we are visiting on the search for waves.
Why Eastindonesia ?
Our last years `leave the track“ boattrip did bring us in the very remote eastindonesian area. On one of those little islands we met Franz Lackner, a missionary who showed us the problems and needs of the people living there.
What is happening with the money we get together ?
The money from the SURFAIR Charity Tombola goes to Franz Lackner and his crew who can use it for the most urgent needs. Franz Lackner, originally from Steiermark, Austria lives already for 40 years in the east of Indonesia (Timor,Roti and Savu) where he is working as a missionary. Every day he is living and dealing with the problems of the local people and is helping them to help themselves. At the moment he is working with the locals on a well where they have to dig 30 meters deep on their own. He and his staff travel around the island to bring medication and other things of need to the people. Furthermore they run a girl school which gives them the chance to make a degree and learn a profession. At the moment there is a big need for scythes (a simple tool to cut grass) in the rain season. Otherwise the grass rottens and during the dry season people have to slaughter their animals because of the lack of fodder. One of our aims is to buy scythes with the proceed of the SURFAIR Charity tombola and bring those to eastindonesia in august.
